It is with regret that the SPM is unable to host Navratri celebrations or Diwali celebrations for 2017.

History of SPM Toronto

The birth of the Prajapati community in Canada is reported to have began with the arrival of the first prajapati family from Engalnd (UK) in 1955. Immigration continued over the years from mainly England, Africa and India, when in 1972, approximately 50 families established their presence in the greater Toronto area.

During 1970s, many Prajapati families established their homes in cities afar as Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa and Vancouver. The year 1972 marked the beginning of an influx of many Prajapatis mainly from Uganda, East Africa.

The year 1974 marked the auspicious birth of the Shree Prajapati Mandal ("SPM") here in Toronto as a non-profit organization. An executive committee was formed with a membership of about 50 members. The goal in forming the SPM was to keep our community together, foster and celebrate our culture, traditions and our Prajapati values.

Since that time, we still maintain the ideals of the SPM established in 1974 and we continue to see our Prajapati community grow year after year.

Today, we are proud to say that our membership stands at over 3000 members and our Prajapati community continues to play a vibrant and active role here in the city of Toronto.
